Adventures of Pinky: DTC Luncheon

Yesterday was the first DTC Luncheon of 2009 and I had such a great time listening to Terri Norvell, founder of The Inner Prize training.  She talked about what led her to where she is today.  Terri is a very motivated person and worked very hard at a variety of jobs where she made herself indispensable to the companies she worked for.  Then, her journey changed unexpectedly when she was laid off from her job.  She said that it was the best thing that could have ever happened to her because it gave her a chance to re-evaluate what she wanted out of life and allowed her to spend more time with her children.  She started her own business and continues to evolve personally and professionally.

One thing that really struck me was when she said that one of the best compliments she received was when she read the poem that her daughter wrote when she was a child.  Terri said that you can tell what a person is like when you meet their children, and I think that is so true!  She was such a positive person with an amazing outlook on life.

After lunch, I met a lot of the attendees including Yolanda Bruce of BYG, Inc., who donated one of the door prizes for the luncheon.  I wish I could win one of the great door prizes, but flamingos can’t enter to win.  I can’t wait for my next big adventure at the Chamber’s grand opening next week!
