Kathleen Mayer’s career started with Flight For Life in 1983 as a Flight Nurse.  In 1993 she went to The Children’s Hospital to serve as its first trauma coordinator and work toward Level I trauma accreditation.  In 1999 Kathy returned to Flight For Life to oversee the day to day operations.  In 2004 Kathy was tasked with combining the Denver operations with the Colorado Springs operation and adding a 4th helicopter in Pueblo, creating Flight for Life Colorado.  She has been a nurse since 1977.

Flight For Life is a pioneer in the field of air medical transport.  Flight For Life began in 1972 with a single Alouette III helicopter, based at St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver. It was the first hospital-based medical helicopter program in the country.  From its humble beginnings, it has grown to be a regional program responding to nine states.  Over 300 flight programs around the country and around the world have since been modeled on this concept. More than 72,000 flights later, Flight for Life’s leadership in the field continues.

Come meet the director of this inspirational and life-saving program at the North Luncheon!
