Member Profile – Ann E. Christoff, Associate at Barkley Martinez, P.C.

Annie_9July2010_01_01Ann E. Christoff is an associate at the law firm of Barkley Martinez, P.C., a Denver-based firm that works with employers and employees at all stages of workplace counseling and litigation — from EEOC charges and administrative venues to lawsuits in state and federal court.

Prior to joining Barkley Martinez in 2010, Ms. Christoff clerked for Hon. Herbert L. Stern III of the Denver District Court.  She earned her JD/MBA from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

 Ms. Christoff concentrates her law practice in the areas of Employment Law, Appeals, and Business Litigation.  She represents plaintiffs and defendants – ranging from individuals to Fortune 100 companies – in a broad range of industries (satellite broadcasting, utilities, hospitality, construction, telecommunication, transportation, engineering, and nutritional supplements).  She has litigated matters involving all aspects of trade secret, non-compete, discrimination and retaliation laws, as well as wrongful discharge and common law contract disputes.

 In the past few years, Ms. Christoff has participated in several successful arbitrations in which clients prevailed on all claims.  She has also won cases on summary judgment and successfully handled appeals both in the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court.  Ms. Christoff has been named a NITA Advocate by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, a designation earned upon successful completion of a series of intensive trial advocacy training programs.

 In addition to medical marijuana, Ms. Christoff has also written on the topic of the use of amicus curiae briefs in appellate courts.  The article, “Lobbying the Third Branch:  Amicus Practice in Appellate Courts,” explains the advantages of weighing in on court decisions that will affect one’s industry.  See, Richard P.
