Now, the organization’s Sky Ridge Medical Center is investing in its next major project – a unique Center for Robotic Surgery. Construction on the 26,000 square foot project began earlier this year in the campus’ Evergreen Medical Office Building, and is expected to open in May of 2022. The $20 million expansion will include four operating rooms, eight pre-op, and six recovery rooms as well as easy access to the hospital.
While Sky Ridge Medical Center uses robotics for gynecologic, bariatric, colorectal, urology and general surgery procedures, a fast-growing area is gynecologic oncology. According to Dr. Jeff James, a gynecologic oncologist at Sky Ridge, robotic technology has enabled his team to more effectively remove tumors and treat more complex cancer cases. “We are providing our patients with better outcomes and fewer complications,” says Dr. James.
In fact, Dr. James has published original work on robotic infra-renal lymphadenectomy for endometrial carcinomas, co-authored multiple robotic surgery publications, and has performed more than 1500 robotic surgeries.
