#WomenCrushingWednesday w/ Debbie Brown

Debbie Brown, President, Colorado Business Roundtable

Community work: I have served on the Board of the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame and as Board Chair of Cherry Creek Academy, a public K-8 charter school. Some newer volunteer work revolves around women’s economic opportunity and political participation globally through two organizations: the Institute for the Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) provides mentorship and education for women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan and Rwanda. The Women’s Democracy Network believes that a full and robust democracy depends on the equal participation of women. Through this organization, I’m able to support their mission of empowering women around the world to participate in the political process and equipping them with the skills to take on greater leadership roles.

CWCC involvement:  The Colorado Women’s Chamber is made up of a community of talented, ambitious and giving women who work together to advance women in business. Serving on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and as Chair of the Public Affairs Committee has been incredibly rewarding. My fellow board members are inspirational, and our team works on issues that create opportunities and prosperity for all women in Colorado.

The Why:  Throughout all my work in Colorado and beyond, a common thread is my passion for economic public policy and opportunity. It’s true that a good job and a vibrant economy solves many other problems. My goals in mentoring are helping women see the potential that they have, whether in Colorado or across the globe.
