Community work (board service, volunteering, mentoring, etc.)

I have yet to get as involved as I’d like to be locally, since I’m still pretty new to Colorado! But I’m continuing to support a cause I’ve been passionate about for a few years now, period poverty, by serving as a volunteer leader with Period Kits here in Denver. I’m really excited for everything we’re planning for 2021, and look forward to having even more of an impact in our local communities.

I’m also involved as a volunteer leader with the National Strength & Conditioning Association, which happens to be based in Colorado Springs, both on the national Women’s Committee, and newly, with on the Colorado State Board.

CWCC Involvement (CWCC member for x amount of years, Engagement within CWCC: serve on our board, support our members and team, etc.)

I’m a new member – just two months! But upon attending my first event as a guest, I knew I wanted to be a part of this awesome organization and community of supportive women and partners. I’ve already been regularly attending the Solopreneurs Forum and meeting some great people there, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting even more active and meeting and supporting more members over the next year.

The Why: Why do you do what you do/ why are you passionate about your work in our community?

We are so flooded, every single day, with noise about the RIGHT way to constantly maximize success, happiness, and health — all the time, always. And I think a big reason why many women feel overwhelmed, and unfulfilled, and like they want something more in their lives is because they struggle to connect to any of those external ways as right for them.

Bottom line: the RIGHT way is whatever way works best for you. End of story.

I believe it’s so important to sift through the noise, listen to ourselves, and take action on what matters most to us, not anybody else. And I’m passionate about helping women figure out what that looks like for them, supporting them through self-discovery work and coaching to see themselves so they can trust themselves in every choice they make for their bodies, lives, and businesses

I do what I do because I know we’ll be the ones to create change in this world, but we’ve got to start with ourselves.

I’m passionate about doing this work worldwide, but I believe deeply in the power of connection, and that always starts with local community and strong relationships. So often, we miss that in the mix of social media and the Internet. All kinds of women with all kinds of life and body experiences and situations face confidence, self-image, and body image challenges, and I think it’s really important to be a resource for them, someone close, someone who gets it. And someone who they can actually connect with face-to-face, whenever we’re able to do that!
